Louie’s first week of kindergarten, the Leo eclipse, what I bought for back-to-school, what I’d buy for a little girl, teacher gifts & my first finds for Fall 🍂
All the feels for the first day of Kindergarten. Feels like yesterday but now we have two Seniors, a 7th Grader and a Sophomore in College🥹 Time truly flies! I will never forget what my OB told me after I had my daughter. “Never wish the time to go by faster, it will go by so fast”. This year feels the hardest for me because our youngest doesn’t feel so young anymore officially being in Middle School.
Awww! My youngest is now in her 3rd year of college and all I can do is reminisce when they were babies and toddlers. Time truly does fly. I mourn those early years but also thrilled at the young adults they are becoming and I am proud.
Motherhood is such a nuanced experience -- so many emotions that feel contradictory all at the same time. I'm struggling with that whole idea that I am teaching him, every single day, to get more and more independent without me. And that Noah Kahan song talking about being an Orbiter ... with more independence means that their orbit gets further and further away from you which is both incredibly sad and also GREAT. Our job is to prepare them to be capable humans but, gosh, every part of the good pulls at your heart strings.
Weirdly, or not so weirdly, I do think there's a term for that feeling of connection to someone you've never physically met because you've followed them on social media. It would help if I had committed it to memory to share here lol ... but, you know, a mom's brain can only take it SO MUCH right now.
How did you little boy do?? So crazy that they're 5 -- ugh, I could cry lol
Ohh, "parasocial relationship!" That's right. We live in Florida too, so I definitely relate to the years you've lived here even though your time in London is so special.
I feel the mom brain so much. I'm with you on feeling a little less foggy now that kids are back in school, but it's so quiet around the house! My little boy is doing great with his new Kindergarten teacher and loves his class. Thank you for asking! And thank you for the reminder that I need to pick up another pair of khaki shorts for him. 😅 I sent a huge jug of soap for my oldest child's teacher because the classrooms don't get soap restocked through the school district. (like... what?!) Love the reminder to treat the teachers to some goodies and supplies.
Also, we were chosen by a tiny black kitten a few months ago and named him Leo. 🐈⬛

Aww, I'm glad he's doing well. And of course!! No worries -- I went a little overboard with making sure we had enough of the shorts Louie needed. Now, I'm just hoping he doesn't outgrow them next month, hah.
Ohhhh that soap idea is great!! And, yeah -- who knew!! I'll have to ask Louie's teacher if they have certain things like that that are never replaced.
LEOOOO, ugh! How cute! A new furry addition is always fun -- a lot of work, but so sweet at the same time. Hope you've enjoyed getting him settled into your home :) xx
