Take as much time as you need with the house. We have been in our home four years and still have rooms that aren’t fully finished (many actually). It takes time to find what you love and spreading out the budget never hurts.

Happy Birthday to Louie! It was one of my favorite ages with our kids (now teens and pre-teens😭).

I love the Rome post! I would love to visit one day.

Years ago, I was working on my PhD and was miserable. I was doing fine in the program but felt like I had nothing to give to my son who was 2 at the time after my school work and grad assistant work was done. I had a professor who said to me ā€œthe program will be there but your son won’t always be this little.ā€ It’s exactly what I needed to hear that it was okay to step away from the things that to the world look like success and focus on the things that are truly the most important - being a mom and wife. It was hard and against my nature but quitting that program was the best thing I could do. Now, my kids are 9 and 13 and I’m back in school working on my doctorate and feel like I’m getting so much more out of it with 12 years of professional and life experience added in.

You haven’t failed in anyway, you’ve chosen to prioritize the most important aspects of this life and I promise as your kids grow, you’ll look back with zero regrets and be able to add back in more of those pieces you had to let go of in that season. 🩷
