Hi! So glad you found me!

I’m Alyson Haley but, you can call me Haley! It’s what everyone calls me! I have been a style and travel blogger over at AlysonHaley.com since 2012. I’ve always been quite the open book so my community also hears about home decor items I’m eyeing, my latest thoughts on motherhood, the latest ‘woo-woo’, or new age, thing I’m into, and so much more!

If you’re new here, welcome! Let me catch you up on me and the fam …

A little bit about Haley …

My partner, John, who is British, and I have been together for six years now. We have a son, Louie, who is almost four, and are currently expecting our little second boy in May of this year. John and I are quite the un-traditionalists as we aren’t married and have only just gotten engaged last year - and, I’m not going to lie, I love that we’re doing things our own way.

Life has changed a lot for me over the last few years and I feel like, after I became a Mom, I gained a lot but lost myself just as much. I lacked a clear purpose and sense of direction when, for years prior, I felt so lit up and inspired by what I was doing, which was running the blog and traveling. I knew that some of my values as it pertained to my business had changed but I wasn’t quite sure how to pivot.

This all started in 2020 after moving to London, my favorite place in the world, while the world was also going through a global pandemic. Truthfully, I think anyone going through that amount of change at one time would feel like the ground wasn’t quite solid underneath their feet. Even still, it was a hard pill to swallow that this dream life in the UK that I was so certain I was destined for wasn’t unfolding quite like I had hoped. Up until last year, I was still fighting the confusion and lack of clarity so, we decided it might be best to say goodbye to the UK for now.

Sometimes, I told myself, maybe you have to feel like you’re going backwards in order to actually go forward. Life isn’t ever understood until you’re watching it back, after all, so I’m choosing to believe that, even though it has felt like a bit of a failure, that there is magic here, in this chapter. Magic that I just can’t see yet.

So, we have since moved back to where I’m from, Florida, and - while I don’t believe this is where our little family is meant to be forever - I have felt a sense of clarity I haven’t felt in awhile, which has been a welcome relief. More on this soon!

Something I have missed a lot is writing and, in turn, connecting with my community. Writing is where this whole journey [of blogging and working for myself began] and, while I’ll continue to share on the blog at some point, I’m really excited to get back to the basics of writing and sharing my life, style, family, and love for travel with you here on Substack in new and [hopefully] refreshing ways.
