Aw yay, I've always loved your content Haley, especially the Ask Haley newsletters. You've always been so thorough and detailed and I absolutely loved that! I don't pay for too many Substacks (just one other one) but I feel like yours will add a lot of value to my life, so excited to have your more personal newsletters back! :)
Aw, thank you, Lisa! I really appreciate your kind words. I definitely think as time goes on, the amount of value in the paid posts will absolutely make the cost worth it! <3 xx
I never missed a single ask Alyson Haley newsletter!! I lived in Denmark for a year during 2019 but I’m from North Carolina and we’re back living in NC. It was a very lonely year living abroad from the massive time difference trying to stay in touch with friends back home. I looked forward to your newsletters every week! You were always so detailed and thoughtful and open! And I loveeee your effortless chic style 🥰 SO excited for this new platform for you!
Also, you inspired me years ago to also share my life on social media so I thank you for that 💙
I know we met....ONCE...but I felt an immediate connection and I'm so excited to follow you here now too. There is a much larger conversation happening around what expertise (in particular travel, fashion and so-called "fun" jobs) is worth because it feels like sometimes people think you shouldn't get paid for the fun stuff. But it takes a lot of work, time, and effort to build a following and a breadth and depth of knowledge–and yours is worth it! Congrats on the launch and taking a step into something that probably felt a bit weird but will be totally worth it!!
Awww gosh thank you so much, Annie! Yeah it feels weird to claim your worth when sometimes our inner voice tells us something else or you don’t see a ton of others walking the same path but sometimes … life will push you in uncomfortable directions and that’s how you grow so, who knows, maybe this is a lesson in worthiness. Appreciate you being here 🥰🥰
I always loved your content, since your Nursing days! I have seen your growth, happiness and struggles on social media. However, you blocked me on IG when you were in an unhealthy mental space due to my comment. I don't recall my comment, but it did affect you. I'm sorry for that, I was surprised to find your email in my inbox and do I want to follow you? Absolutely, however I don't want to be following someone who got offended and blocked me. People will have different opinions.
Hi Christine! The email was sent to you because you are a part of my email list - you have liked gotten my weekly newsletters even before moving over to Substack although maybe they went to spam, I’m not sure?
I am happy to have people follow along that have differing opinions or disagree with me. I think it’s all about how you come across. This is a space meant for friends so I am not happy to have people follow along if they come across as rude or inconsiderate towards me & can’t verbalize their truth to me in a respectful way. I can’t recall every scenario where this has happened so I can’t speak to our discourse specifically but you’re welcome to send me an email and we can discuss this in a more appropriate setting. I have been in a more fragile mental state (unhealthy might not be the correct word) over the last few years so my boundaries may have been crossed more easily and / or my tolerance for whatever was happening between us was low. I apologize if I was out of line but, like I said, I won’t know until we discuss. My email is haley@alysonhaley.com
Good for you! I’m excited for your new format. It sounds like a really good way to pivot towards what feels authentic and right for you. And frankly, I think this new format feels like a welcome change as a subscriber/follower as well. We are all getting tired of the old Instagram ways. It’s exhausting! I can’t imagine how hard it has been as a creator. I appreciate all you share and look forward to all you are offering through Substack! ♥️
